{"id":586,"date":"2022-12-22T13:51:30","date_gmt":"2022-12-22T11:51:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cab.lt\/duk\/"},"modified":"2023-12-29T13:44:20","modified_gmt":"2023-12-29T11:44:20","slug":"worth-knowing-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.cab.lt\/en\/worth-knowing-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Worth knowing"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"container\">\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><div class=\"container\">\n    <div class=\"blck-text\">\n        <h3>Worth knowing<\/h3>\n<p>Motor Insurers&#8217; Bureau of the Republic of Lithuania functions\u00a0as National Insurers&#8217; Bureau,\u00a0Guarantee fund, Compensation body and Information centre as one entity.<\/p>\n<p>All vehicles used in the territory of the Republic of Lithuania must be covered by compulsory motor third party liability insurance. A vehicle normally based in the territory of the Republic of Lithuania must be covered by motor third party liability insurance as long as the vehicle is registered.<\/p>\n<p>The minimum sum insured under compulsory insurance in the Republic of Lithuania, whatever the number of injured third parties is <strong>6.450.000 <\/strong>euros for personal injury (including non-pecuniary damage) and\u00a0<strong>1.300.000 <\/strong>euros for damage to property.<\/p>\n<p>The responsible insurer and\/or the Bureau are obliged to pay compensation within\u00a0<strong>30 days<\/strong>\u00a0from the date on which the claim was presented. If, within 30 days, it is impossible to investigate the necessary circumstances\u00a0to establish the fact of the insurance event and to assess the size of the damage, the compensation shall be paid within 14 days from the date when investigation of such circumstances could have been completed by making reasonable effort,\u00a0<u>but not later than within 3 months<\/u>\u00a0from the date on which the claim was presented.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Civil Code of the Republic of Lithuania the limitation period for legal proceedings against the insured or the insurer is\u00a0<strong>3 years<\/strong>.
